Clarence Moores Weed


Birthdate: 5 October 1864

Birthplace: Toledo, Ohio.

Died: 18 Jul 1947, Plymouth, New Hampshire.

BIOGRAPHY: Naturalist and educator, remembered in the literature primarily for his studies of insects, birds, nature study in schools, and harvestmen. Associate Editor of the "Prairie Farmer" (1884-1885). Assistant State Entomologist for Illinois (185-1887). Entomologist and Botanist at the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station at Columbus (1888-1891). Professor of Zoology and Entomology at the New Hampshire College of Agriculture and Mechanic Arts in Hanover (1891-1904). Instructor of Nature Study at the Massachusetts State Normal School at Lowell (1904-1922), then Principal (1922-1932) and President (1932-1935). See Cokendolpher & Zeiders (2004).
