BIOGRAPHY: Wladyslaw Kulczynski has published his first publication on spiders at the age of 18, and continued until his death, a few published posthumously. All together published 61 papers. After graduation from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (he become Docent of that University in 1909) he has for 33 years been a high school teacher. He begun publishing faunal and taxonomic papers on spider of Tatra Mountains and Krakow environments, later wrote an impotant 2 volume work "Araneae Hungariae" (together with L. Chyzer) and followed by identifications and descriptions of collections sent to him, among other from Siberia, Mediterranean, Australia, New Guinea. Was in touch with major arachnologists of his time. He was a Member and Honorary Member of numerous Learned Societies, in Galicia and abroad. He was very active in nature conservancy, his hobby was mountaineering. His collection was purchased, after his death, by the present Muzeum i Instytut Zoologii of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.
